Danielle Ward Mason

Danielle Ward Mason co-founded Bullock Ward Mason, LLC with her law partner, Tina Bullock, in 2022. She was the first black woman to be named partner at two major national law firms. Her civil practice has primarily focused on litigating cases impacting the health and well-being of women, including hormone replacement therapy, transvaginal mesh, and talcum powder ovarian cancer cases. Her work in the talcum powder litigation helped the trial team secure nearly $1 billion in trial verdicts. Danielle is a leading lawyer in the country for litigation related to toxic hair relaxers primarily used by women of color.

In the fifteen years that she has practiced law, Danielle has achieved numerous awards and has been recognized extensively for her legal advocacy. In 2020, she received the Harry M. Philo Award, a national award given by the American Association for Justice, recognizing her stellar consumer advocacy in the talcum powder litigation. She was also named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers list for 2020 and has been named to the Super Lawyers Rising Star list every year since 2014. In 2017, Danielle received the Leading Lady award presented by the Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama for her work advancing the health and safety of women. In 2016, she was recognized on Law 360’s Rising Star List and was also named as one of Law 360’s Top Attorneys Under 40. In that same year, she was honored by the American Association for Justice’s New Lawyer Division Caucus, which bestowed upon her the American Association for Justice’s F. Scott Baldwin Award. As part of the talcum powder/ovarian cancer trial team, Danielle was also nominated as a finalist for the 2016 Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year Award in recognition of the team’s work. In June 2015, Danielle was selected as the Alabama Black Achievers Award Attorney of the Year, presented by the Oliver Robinson Foundation, which recognizes African Americans who give unselfishly of their time and resources to make a difference in their respective communities.

Danielle is an active member of the American Association for Justice, where she has been the chair of the Talcum Powder/Ovarian Cancer Litigation Group since its inception in 2016. She is active in both the Minority Caucus and the Women’s Trial Lawyer Caucus, and currently holds several key committee appointments. She has held numerous leadership positions in Alabama legal organizations, including serving as president of the Alabama Lawyers Association and president of the Montgomery County Association for Justice. Danielle’s passion for her clients and her reputation for zealous advocacy make her a highly sought-after speaker in the conference circuit. She regularly speaks at conferences throughout the country on various topics related to litigation she handles and offers practical tips for attorneys at any stage of their careers. She enjoys mentoring young lawyers by helping them identify and achieve the opportunities in the field of law that she has been afforded. Additionally, her insightful contributions have earned her recognition, with her Article Featured in AAJ Trial Magazine showcasing her expertise and commitment to advancing legal discourse.

Danielle was born and raised in historic Montgomery, Alabama, where she currently resides with her husband, Dwan, and their sons, Jordan and Jaxon.
